ENI and Partners Celebrate Hull Launch of Coral North FLNG in South Korea

San Donato Milanese (Milan), 16 January 2026 — In the presence of Mozambique’s Minister of Natural Resources, Estevão Pale, and Eni’s Chief Operating Officer Global Natural Resources, Guido Brusco, Eni and its partners which include China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), ENH, KOGAS and XRG has today announced the successful hull launch of the Coral North Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit in Geoje, South Korea. The milestone has been achieved fully in line with the project schedule.

Coral North will be the second state-of-the-art FLNG facility to operate in the Rovuma Basin, offshore Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique. The facility will develop gas resources from the northern section of the Coral gas reservoir, further advancing Mozambique’s offshore gas production

Leveraging the expertise and operational experience gained since Coral South began production in 2022, Coral North has been designed to deliver improved efficiency and optimized performance. These enhancements aim to reduce costs, mitigate execution risks and ensure completion of the project by 2028.

With a liquefaction capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), Coral North will double Mozambique’s total LNG production capacity to 7 MTPA. This achievement will position Mozambique as Africa’s third-largest LNG producer and exporter, reinforcing its strategic role in the global energy market.

The project is expected to more than double its economic impact on Mozambique through increased LNG revenues, growth of local industry and the creation of new employment opportunities. Coral North will also support expanded investments in local development programs.

Eni has been active in Mozambique since 2006 and between 2011 and 2014 discovered significant natural gas resources in the Rovuma Basin, including the Coral, Mamba Complex and Agulha reservoirs, with approximately 2,400 billion cubic meters of gas in place. Coral South, the first project to produce gas from the basin, has already delivered more than 135 LNG cargoes to international markets.

In addition to its industrial activities, Eni continues to support Mozambique’s long-term development through initiatives that promote economic diversification and improve access to education, healthcare and clean water, as part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy.
