Neptune Energy Norge has awarded Odfjell Drilling’s semisubmersible Deepsea Yantai a three-well contract extension.

This will keep the rig under contract to late 2021.

The semisub will conduct the second drilling phase of Neptune’s Fenja field development in the Norwegian North Sea.

In addition, the parties have agreed to increase the number of optional wells from the remaining five to 10.

The Deepsea Yantai is owned by CIMC Raffles and operated by Odfjell Drilling.

Odfjell Drilling has announced that the drilling contractor, on behalf of CIMC Raffles, have agreed a contract with DNO Norge AS for the use of the drilling rig Deepsea Yantai to drill one (1) firm well in PL 984, offshore Norway.

PL984 is operated by DNO Norge AS with 40% interest, with the rest split evenly between Source Energy AS and Var Energi ASA.

The semisubmersible Deepsea Yantai is a GM4D harsh environment design and is Odfjell Drilling’s first rig of this design. The unit is designed for operations in harsh environments and at water depths of up to 1,200 m.

The rig has full DP 3 station keeping and is ready for full mooring spread for operations in water depths of 70 to 1200 metres. The rig has a state-of-the-art, highly efficient drilling system, which includes a 1 ½ derrick with offline capabilities to facilitate a number of simultaneous operations. The drilling system has an active heave compensating drawwork for increased performance, efficiency, safety and redundancy. The rig is designed for worldwide operation and will be especially suitable for operation in harsh environment.

Contract award with A/S Norske Shell for Deepsea Yantai



Odfjell Drilling is pleased to announce that on behalf of CIMC OFFSHORE AS, the contractor has agreed a contract with A/S Norske Shell for the use of the drilling rig Deepsea Yantai to permanently plug and abandon 9 wells at 4 different well locations across 2 fields (Knarr and Gaupe). The scope of work is estimated to take 145 days with a planned commencement in Q3/Q4 2023.

Extension of Neptune Energy Norge contract

Odfjell Drilling is pleased to announce that on behalf of CIMC OFFSHORE AS, the drilling contractor have agreed to extend the contract with Neptune Energy Norge for the use of the drilling rig Deepsea Yantai to drill two further firm wells in Norway. The scope of the work is estimated to take 60 days and scheduled to commence in Q3 2023.
