Application due: 06/11/2020

Are you a senior and high-performing communications professional thrilled by the prospect of making B2B stories relevant to a wider audience and maximising impact across communication channels? The job as Senior Editor & Journalist is a unique chance to manage and influence the communication agenda of Maersk Drilling, an international company with a leading sustainability profile in our industry.

We Offer

The Corporate Communication, Branding, and Sustainability function in Maersk Drilling is looking for a high caliber colleague to join a team of five communications professionals. We offer an exciting opportunity to work closely together with your colleagues to track down, investigate and present the good stories to audiences in and outside Maersk Drilling.

You will be part of a truly international company with our employees representing 65 nationalities. Our strong focus on diversity is a natural outcome of a company with a strong talent focus, mindset and culture. This goes hand in hand with a commitment to inclusion: all employees are valued and treated with respect at all times and we believe that our employees thrive and perform better with a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include implementation of our overall communication and sustainability strategy through content production and delivery. This will include a focus on communicating the sustainability agenda as one of the company’s top business priorities in the coming years. You will assume the responsibility for Maersk Drilling’s internal and external editorial content calendar, managing the compilation and creation of internal and external news and updates. Whether it’s an intranet update, a CEO letter, video clip, a global townhall presentation or a social media post, you create engaging content and you are an expert at effectively leveraging the content across channels.

Leveraging your strong interpersonal skills, you will be responsible for ensuring that business initiatives and functional teams have appropriate communications support. You love creating engaging content and possess the ability to focus on the right priorities, dedicating resources where they have most impact. As a critical reader and a lover of words, you contribute to the company’s strategic agenda, and at the same time you are curious about the quirky technical details and everyday operations in a leading offshore drilling company.

Areas of responsibility include:
  • Maintain and develop the corporate editorial content calendar
  • Produce, edit and publish engaging content for internal and external channels including both news stories and video inteviews
  • Build and evolve understanding of how stakeholders consume information and contribute to the continuous development of Maersk Drilling’s digital presence
  • Responsible for content planning and development of corporate social media accounts and implementation of social media strategy
  • Engage with operational leaders and functional managers across departments to support consistent communication to the global organisation – onshore and offshore
  • Manage and develop the company’s internal and external editorial strategy to support various communication activities and campaigns
  • Support the team in developing measurement criteria and processes that evaluate communication channel effectiveness
Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a Senior Editor & Journalist with the following characteristics:
  • You hold a degree in journalism or communication with at least 5 years of experience from a media/news company, corporate communication department, communications agency or similar
  • You have experience with acting as an editor and journalist in a corporate setting and you know how to extract the essential information from a complex context and turn it into a compelling and engaging story
  • You have excellent writing skills and know how to identify, research and present a great story
  • You have experience with recording and assembling video material and turning it into a finished video product. Experience with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Pro is a plus.
  • You have a thorough understanding of all aspects of digital communication and social media and the ability to keep up to date with new developments in the field
  • You excel at handling complexities across multiple channels, content creators, agencies and internal stakeholders
  • You are fluent in English – preferably you are a native English speaker or have worked in an international company where English is the corporate language
  • Knowledge of the offshore industry is an advantage
  • We will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and we will close the ad once we have found the right candidate. Therefore we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
