[Brazil] Revitalization Albacora

Unread post by escveritas »

Petrobras P-31 FPSO is moored in 330m water depth in the Campos basin, offshore Brazil using SOFEC, Inc. internal turret, which is able to accomodate up to 25 flexible risers. The FPSO achieved first oil in October 1998 and has a storage capacity of 1 million bbls.

The Campos Basin is the main sedimentary area already explored off the Brazilian coast. The P-31 is operating in the Albacora field, which was Brazil's first giant deepwater field discovered iin 1984.

Subsequent giant fields were discovered such as Roncador, Marlim, Barracuda, and Caratinga. Still, more larger fields were discovered to the north of these fields, in an area that has now been known as "Parque das Baleias" (Whale Park).

Petrobras recently announced that they are launching a 'Revitalization Albacora' project, aiming to replace P-31 FPSO.

The new FPSO shall be capable of processing as a minimum, 120,000 barrels of crude oil per day, 212 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, 140,000 barrels of water injection per day, and should have a minimum storage capacity of 1,240,000 barrels of crude oil. The FPSO shall be moored at 670m water depth.
