▶ Construction contract with KSS Shipping, construction of Ulsan Hyundai Heavy Industries, delivery in 2023
▶ Equipped with LPG dual fuel engine, responding to IMO sulfur oxide regulations
▶ Leading the market by winning 60% of global orders for LPG carriers this year

Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, an intermediate holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, won an order for two super-large LPG carriers worth 183 billion won.

Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced on the 13th that it had signed a contract with KSS Shipping to build two 86,000 cubic meters (㎥) class ultra-large LPG carriers.

The vessels ordered this time, measuring 230m in length, 32.25m in width and 23.75m in height, will be built by Ulsan Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered to ship owners sequentially from the first half of 2023.

In particular, the ship is equipped with an LPG dual fuel propulsion engine, and it is possible to respond to the stricter International Maritime Organization (IMO) sulfur oxide emission regulations without a scrubber, an exhaust gas reduction device.

In addition, this ship will be built to 86,000 cubic meters (㎥), which has increased the maximum loading capacity by 2,000 cubic meters (㎥) through design efficiency, which is the maximum capacity that can pass through Old Panama.

Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (KOSPO) is leading the market by winning orders for 34 out of 58 LPG carriers ordered worldwide this year.

Earlier, on the 10th (Mon), Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (KOSPO) received an order for two 91,000 cubic meters (㎥) class ultra-large LPG carriers from a Liberia shipping company.

An official from Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said, "The demand for LPG and LNG is expected to increase as the economy recovers."
