Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) won an order for six LNG carriers and succeeded in exceeding the annual order amount of $10 billion for the first time in seven years.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (CEO Lee Seong-geun) announced on the 1st that it had received orders for four LNG carriers and two LNG carriers from two North American shipowners, respectively. The total amount of orders received for these ships amounted to KRW 1,495.6 billion. These ships will be built at the Okpo Shipyard and delivered to the owner by the second half of 2025.

It is the first time that Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has succeeded in winning an order of more than $10 billion since it won an order worth $14.9 billion in 2014. As a result, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has secured a stable job for more than three years.

The LNG carrier ordered this time is a large 174,000m3 class LNG carrier, equipped with a dual fuel propulsion engine (ME-GI) and a more advanced gas management system, which is the main culprit of greenhouse gas emissions. The emission of gases to the atmosphere can be significantly reduced. Accordingly, it is possible to effectively respond to the strengthened greenhouse gas emission regulations.

A DSME official said, "Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering is actively participating in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is leading the development of future eco-friendly technologies." It means a lot,” he said.

This year, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has a total of 59 vessels, including 20 container ships, 15 LNG carriers, 11 super-large crude oil carriers, 9 super-large LPG carriers, 1 WTIV, 1 submarine, and 2 offshore plants, worth about $10.44 billion. By winning orders for ships, offshore plants, and submarines from end.
