Stena Drilling had signed contract with Bahamas Petroleum Company to spud Perserverance-1 well for a duration of 45 to 60 days. The rig is scheduled to reach the field in December 2020. Bahamas Petroleum Company has set aside a budget of between USD 30 to 35 Million for this exploratory well, including contingencies for realised rate of penetration, additional casing strings and logging surveys.

Long lead items and critical path materials were ordered, logistics contracts let for helicopters and supply boats. In early 2020 the drill plan was peer reviewed by an independent expert such that insurance could be finalised, financial capacity was enhanced through an additional financial facility provided by a Bahamian family office investment house and finally, after months of diligent work with various departments of The Government of The Bahamas and third party environmental specialists, the Ministry of the Environment granted the requisite Environmental Authorisation.

Following this, the Company announced the well to be drilled would be named Perseverance #1, would be drilled on the B North segment of the 75 km long B structure and would be targeting a P50 resource of 0.7 billion barrels (with an upside of 1.4 billion barrels). In the event of success, the well would substantially de-risk the remainder of the B structure, which in aggregate has a most likely resource level in excess of 2 billion barrels. All was set for commencement of drilling consistent with the planned schedule.to test the P50 of 0.7 Bbbl

STENA DRILLING ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT A CONTRACT HAS BEEN SIGNED WITH FAR GAMBIA LTD, UTILISING MOBILE OFFSHORE DRILLING UNIT (MODU) STENA ICEMAX.

The drilling program shall be a one (1) well campaign with an approximate duration of 30 days, offshore The Republic of The Gambia in Block A2, commencing between 1st October 2021 and 30th November 2021.

We look forward to working with FAR, and well management contractor Exceed, to complete this campaign.

Below is the FAR Press Release

Gambia drilling on target for Q4
  • Rig contract executed for drilling Bambo-1 exploration well, offshore The Gambia
  • Bambo well targeting 1.118 billion bbls of prospective resources (best estimate, 100%, recoverable)
  • Well located to drill the extension of the Sangomar Field into The Gambia concurrently with two additional prospects
FAR Limited (ASX: FAR), has locked in the timetable for drilling the Bambo-1 well offshore The Gambia by executing a contract with Stena Drillmax Ice Limited to commence drilling operations in Q4 of this year.

The Bambo-1 well in Block A2 offshore The Gambia, is designed to drill into 3 prospects with a total estimated recoverable, prospective resource of 1,118 mmbbls (arithmetic sum of the Best Estimates, 559 mmbbls net to FAR) and the chance of geological success for the various horizons range from 7% to 37% (see Figures 1, 2, 3).

These target reservoirs are:
1. Soloo - The extension of the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs in the adjacent Sangomar Oil Field, offshore Senegal.
2. Bambo and Soloo Deep – two additional prospects, not drilled during the Senegal drilling campaigns. These two prospects carry a lower chance of success but higher volume of hydrocarbons (see Table 1). The technical assessment of the Bambo Prospect has greatly benefited from FAR’s extensive database and experience in the region and learnings from FAR’s involvement in the 11 successful wells in Senegal and the Samo-1 well drilled in 2018.

FAR is Operator with a 50% working interest in the A2 and A5 permits with its joint venture partner, PC Gambia Ltd, a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). If successful, a discovery could result in a standalone development which would be The Gambia’s first oil production.

The prospect volume estimates in this table have been calculated for each individual reservoir target using probabilistic methods. Each reservoir shown in Figure 2 below (Bambo, Soloo and Soloo Deep) has two separate targets. These volumes have then been summed arithmetically to give the totals for the Bambo-1 well.

Planning for the Bambo-1 drilling project is well advanced. The execution of the rig contract marks a significant milestone in the planning for the well with spud now confirmed for between 1 October and 30 November 2021, subject to rig schedule.

Long-lead items have been ordered and tendering and contracting for remaining key services is underway. The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the project is approved by the National Environmental Agency of The Gambia. FAR has engaged Exceed Energy in Aberdeen to provide the engineering and wells management team to deliver this project.

The well is expected to take approximately 30 days to drill and planned to drill to a depth of 3266m in water depths of 993m, 85km offshore and 500m south of the Senegal-Gambia border as per following figure.

Rig Contract Signed with Stena for Drilling Campaign, Offshore Israel

Energean plc (LSE: ENOG, TASE: אנאג,) is pleased to announce that its 100% subsidiary, Energean Israel Limited, has signed a contract with Stena Drilling Limited ("Stena") for its 2022 - 2023 growth drilling programme offshore Israel, which is expected to target the derisking of unrisked prospective recoverable resources of over 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent ("boe").

The contract is for the drilling of three firm wells and two optional wells, with the first firm well expected to spud in 1Q 2022. The firm wells are all expected to be drilled during 2022, and consist of:

· The Karish North development well, a key part of the Karish North development. The scope includes re-entry, sidetracking and completion of the previously drilled Karish North well and completion as a producer. The Karish North development will commercialise 33 Bcm (1.2 Tcf) of gas plus 31 mmbbls of liquids 2P reserves (a total of 243 mmboe) and is expected to deliver first gas in 2H 2023.

· The Karish Main-04 appraisal well, which is expected to target further prospective volumes within the Karish Main Block, including the potential oil rim that was identified as part of the KM-03 development well drilling. Total unrisked recoverable volumes estimated to be targeted by the well are 166 mmboe[1][2].

· The Athena exploration well, located in Block 12, is situated directly between the Karish and Tanin leases. Athena is estimated to contain unrisked recoverable prospective resource volumes of 20 Bcm (0.7 Tcf) of gas plus 4 mmbbls of liquids1; of which the primary target is estimated to contain unrisked recoverable prospective resource volumes of 10 Bcm (0.4 Tcf) of gas plus 2 mmbbls of liquids1 with a 70% geological chance of success1. Success at Athena would be expected to significantly de-risk approximately 90 Bcm (2.5 Tcf) plus 19 mmbbls1 of remaining unrisked recoverable prospective resource volumes located within Block 12 and Tanin.

Two factors support the commercialisation of a Block 12 discovery. Firstly, Block 12 was a new licence award to Energean Israel Limited in 2018; produced volumes will therefore generate no royalty payments in respect of Energean Israel Limited's original acquisition of the block. Secondly, the more proximate location of the potential development to the expected location of the Energean Power FPSO is also expected to reduce like-for-like development costs when compared with Tanin.

The drilling campaign will be undertaken using the Stena Icemax drillship, a state-of-the-art ice-class harsh environment dual-activity dynamically positioned drillship, capable of drilling in water depths of up to 10,000 ft.

Mathios Rigas, Chief Executive Officer of Energean, commented:

"We are delighted to be working with Stena again; and this five-well programme follows the three-well development drilling programme and 243 mmboe Karish North discovery, all successfully executed with Stena over 2019 and 2020.

Our five-well growth programme offshore Israel, commencing 1Q 2022, has the potential to double Energean plc's reserve base with resource volumes that can be quickly, economically and safely monetised. Combined with first gas from our flagship Karish gas development project in mid-2022, the next 12-months are set to be truly transformational for Energean."
