Contract called off for Maersk Resolute
18 December, 2019

Maersk Drilling has received notification that Perenco is cancelling the previously announced three-well contract for the jack-up rig Maersk Resolute in the UK North Sea.

According to Perenco, the cancellation is due to the fact that the scope of Maersk Resolute’s previous contract was extended beyond the original schedule, causing delayed arrival for Perenco’s drilling campaign which was originally expected to commence in October 2019. The duration of the three-well contract with Perenco was estimated at 150 days.

The contract cancellation does not impact the guidance for 2019.

The Maersk Resolute is a high-efficiency, harsh-environment CJ50 jack-up which was delivered in 2008. Following the completion of its latest contract, the rig will be warm-stacked.

Maersk Drilling secures additional five-well drilling work scope with Petrogas
15 September, 2022

Maersk Drilling and Petrogas E&P Netherlands B.V. have agreed to an amendment of the previously entered contract for the provisioning of the harsh-environment jack-up rig Maersk Resolute, under which an option included in that contract will be replaced by a newly entered five-well drilling contract which will employ Maersk Resolute to drill three wells at the A15 field and two wells at the B10 field, both of which are located offshore the Netherlands.

The drilling contract is expected to commence in Q1 2024, in direct continuation of the rig’s previous work scope, with an estimated duration of 188 days. The minimum contract value of the drilling contract is approximately USD 24.3m, including an agreed fee for the use of the rig’s SCR system, and with provisions included to potentially increase the day rate depending on market conditions. The drilling contract further contains an additional one-well option.

The drilling campaign will employ Maersk Resolute’s onboard high-efficiency Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system which uses ammonia injection to convert NOx into harmless water and nitrogen, expectedly reducing NOx emissions by up to 98%.

“We’re pleased to confirm that Maersk Resolute will continue on a drilling campaign after completing its current plugging and abandonment work scope. This contract is yet another testament to our excellent collaborative relationship with Petrogas, which includes a shared commitment to protecting the environment – something that has a particularly high priority in operations in the Dutch North Sea,” says COO Morten Kelstrup of Maersk Drilling.
