Front Puffin

Unread post by escveritas »

LAGOS, Nigeria – Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum has produced first oil from the Aje field located in block OML 113 offshore Nigeria.

Aje is in the western part of Nigeria in the Dahomey basin, 24 km (15 mi) from the coast and in water depths ranging from 100 to 1,000 m (328 to 3,280 ft). It is also the first field to be produced from the Frontier Benin Embayment area.

The field contains hydrocarbon resources in sandstone reservoirs at three main levels - a Turonian gas condensate reservoir, a Cenomanian oil reservoir, and an Albian gas condensate reservoir.

Production is through theFront Puffin FPSO, which formerly served a field offshore Western Australia, and which now has capacity to produce 40,000 b/d of oil and to store up to 750,000 bbl.

Other partners in the project are New Age Exploration Nigeria Ltd., EER (Colobus) Nigeria Ltd., Pan Petroleum (Panoro Energy) Aje Ltd., and PR Oil & Gas Nigeria Ltd.

Rubicon Offshore has sold the Front Puffin FPSO to Century Engineering Services for USD15 million. The entire proceeds will be distributed to bondholders.

Front Puffin FPSO is leased on a bareboat charter to Folawiyo Aje Services and is deployed at the Aje field in offshore Nigeria.

The Aje field started oil production on 3 May 2016, via the Aje-4 and Aje-5 wells tied back to the FPSO Front Puffin. The field lies in water depths of 90 m in OML 118, offshore Nigeria. Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum operates Aje with partners New Age, FHN, Energy Equity Resources, Panoro Energy and MX Oil.

#PanoroEnergy has received nod from Nigerian' authorities on the sale of its stake at OML113 to Oslo listed PetroNor.

The Aje oil and gas field was discovered in 1996 and, following several appraisal wells, the field started production in May 2016 via the Front Puffin FPSO.

According to PetroNor, there are two production wells – the Aje-4 with oil production and Aje-5ST2 with oil and gas production – along with a significant gas-condensate column ready for further development. The company’s data shows that oil production in 2020 was around 1,981 bopd.
