BD Field sits on top of Kujung Formation with reserves expected to recover 441.7 BCF of gas and 18.7 MM barrels of condensate over an expected field life of 13 years. First Production from BD Field commenced on May 6th 2017. Over the course of 2 years BD Field has produced up to 68 BCF of gas and more than 4 MM barrels of condensate and currently in the process of ramping up to full production to reach plateau production phase for the next years to come.

BD Field Production is served by 3 major facilities namely offshore Wellhead Platform (WHP), onshore Gas Metering Station (GMS) situated near the city of Pasuruan, and a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading facility (FPSO) operated by 3rd party under lease contract. Production from BD Field consist of sour and toxic gas with around 4500 ppm of H2S from WHP which is then treated in the FPSO to produce sweet gas for sales to gas buyer in the GMS and the by product of acid gas is then converted into molten sulfur on the FPSO, the gas also undergone separation process to produce condensate which are then periodically offloaded to a shuttle tanker.

BD Field achieved 1st sales gas to PGN on June 6, 2017 and 1st sales gas to IAE on December 22, 2017 and achieved maximum sales gas rate of 110 MMSCFD in June 2019. In terms of condensate, BD Field has performed its 1st condensate offloading to MT Serui tanker on October 24, 2017, and as of September 2019 BD Field has safely performed 29 times of condensate offloading operations. BD Field had also performed its 1st molten sulfur offloading on November 3rd, 2017; creating history to be the first offshore facility that produces molten sulfur and performed molten sulfur offloading in Asia.

Keppel to deliver third FPSO for Shapoorji Pallonji and Bumi Armada JV

Keppel Offshore & Marine's (Keppel O&M) wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to deliver a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to Armada Madura EPC Limited (Armada Madura), a joint venture between Shapoorji Pallonji Group (Shapoorji Pallonji) and Bumi Armada Berhad (BAB).

The spread-moored FPSO unit was named Karapan Armada Sterling III during a naming ceremony held earlier this month at Keppel Shipyard.

The FPSO will be deployed to the Madura BD Field in Madura Strait East Java which is operated by Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML).

Mr Michael Chia, Managing Director (Marine & Technology) of Keppel O&M, said, "Our strong partnership with long-time client Bumi Armada enabled us to execute this project safely and to the highest quality, with the project recording more than 3 million safe man-hours without Lost Time Incidents.

"This is the third conversion/upgrading project that we have undertaken for the Shapoorji Pallonji and Bumi Armada joint venture to-date and we are certain that Karapan Armada Sterling III will be as successful as their first two FPSOs, Armada Sterling and Armada Sterling II."

Mr Leon Harland, Chief Executive Officer of Bumi Armada, said, "Armada Sterling III FPSO, is a unique project as she is the world's first floating facility that has a large sulphur processing plant installed capable of producing molten sulphur. The FPSO is able to process approximately 25 tonnes of sulphur per day. It was a challenge to operate with such high sulphur levels and thanks to the capabilities and collaboration of the teams at BAB and all our partners and contractors, we have completed a fit-for-purpose solution for our client HCML."

Keppel Shipyard's work scope for the Karapan Armada Sterling III FPSO includes refurbishment and life extension works, upgrading of living quarters to accommodate 80 personnel, fabrication and installation of mooring systems as well as, installation and integration of topside process modules.

Karapan Armada Sterling III is designed to process 110 mmscfd scales gas, 7,500 barrels oil condensate, and is equipped with sulphur handling facilities. It has a 12-point spread mooring arrangement and has a storage capacity of 370,000 barrels.
