[UK] Saturn Banks - Blythe, Elgood, and Southwark

Unread post by escveritas »

International Oil and Gas (IOG) is 50% owner and operator of the Saturn Banks Project – Phase 1, which entails the development of three fields, Blythe, Elgood and Southwark, in the UK Southern North Sea. The remaining 50% interests are held by CalEnergy Resources (UK) Limited (CER).

Blythe

The Blythe Field was discovered in 1966 by well 48/22-1, drilled by Burmah and is a good quality Rotliegend reservoir. It was subsequently appraised by wells 48/22-2, 48/23-3 and 48/23-4 drilled by Arco between 1987 and 1990 which tested up to 15 MMscfd.

Blythe will be developed using a single development well and an unmanned platform.

Final Investment Decision (FID) on Blythe was declared in October 2019 as part of the Phase 1 FID. The Phase 1 Field Development Plan (FDP) was approved by the UK government in April 2020 and first gas is expected in Q4 2021.

Elgood

The Elgood Field was discovered in 1991 by well 48/22-4, drilled by Enterprise Oil, but was not progressed to development due to its perceived size and gas prices at that time.

It is a good quality Rotliegend Leman sandstone reservoir that tested gas to surface at rates in excess of 17 MMscfd. Gas was also tested from the Hauptdolomit interval 700 feet above the Leman interval but at low rates without stimulation.

Elgood is being co-developed with Blythe as a single subsea well tied back to the unmanned platform and producing well at Blythe.

Final Investment Decision (FID) on Elgood was declared in October 2019 as part of the Phase 1 FID. The Phase 1 Field Development Plan (FDP) was approved by the UK government in April 2020 and first gas is expected in Q4 2021.

Southwark

Southwark was discovered by Conoco Phillips in 2000.

The field lies 30-45km east of the Blythe Hub and is part of the Phase 1 development. The Field Development Plan assumes three horizontal hydraulically stimulated wells to be drilled at Southwark from a Normally Unmanned Installation platform.

The Environmental Impact Assessment for the Southwark field, which is part of the Phase 1 development, was approved by the UK government in April 2020.

First gas on the Phase 1 development is expected in Q4 2021.

Development

Final Investment Decision (FID) on Phase 1 was declared in October 2019, the Field Development Plan (FDP) was approved by the UK government in April 2020 and first gas is excpected in Q4 2021.
