Yinson awarded Brazil FPSO Marlim project
LOIs issued for charter, operations and maintenance of FPSO Marlim 2 in the northeastern part of the Campos Basin

KUALA LUMPUR – 16 October 2019

YINSON HOLDINGS BERHAD (“Yinson” or the “Group”), has been awarded two Letters of Intent (collectively “LOIs”) by Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (“Petrobras”) for the charter, operations and maintenance of FPSO Marlim 2, a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Marlim revitalization project from Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. ("Petrobras") in Brazil.

The LOIs were issued to Yinson Production Pte Ltd (“YPPL”), an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the Yinson. Following the LOIs, the charter contract will be entered into by Yinson’s Netherlandsincorporated indirect subsidiary Yinson Boronia Production B.V (“YBP”), while the operation and maintenance (O&M) contract will be entered into by YBP’s Brazil-incorporated subsidiary Yinson Boronia Serviços de Operação Ltda.

The estimated aggregate value of the contracts is equivalent to USD5.4 billion. The contract period is for 25 years from the date of the final acceptance. FPSO Marlim 2 will be Yinson’s first vessel to operate in Brazil waters, and is one of several bids in the region that the Group has entered into.

Yinson Group Chief Executive Officer Lim Chern Yuan said FPSO Marlim 2 would be Yinson’s largest project to date, and that the Group had been focusing on building their resources, capacity and expertise in order to meet the project’s delivery and timeline.

“This project further cements Yinson’s position as a global FPSO player, demonstrating the industry’s increasing confidence in our ability to deliver projects on time, and thereafter to maintain our excellent uptime and safety track record,” he said.

Yinson’s Chief Executive Officer Production Eirik Barclay added that much of the needed groundwork and preparations in order to swing into high gear upon project award has already been completed.

“The team is excited and ready to demonstrate that we are able to meet the expectations of our client and project partner in realizing this project. We are committed to giving our very best towards this project in order to contribute to the advancement of the energy industry in Brazil,” he said.

In March 2019, Yinson and Sumitomo Corporation announced their intention to collaborate on the Marlim revitalization project, in which Sumitomo would participate with an effective interest of at least 20% in the event of a successful bid by Yinson. The Shareholder Agreement pertaining to this collaboration is expected to be announced in due course

YINSON FURTHER STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP FOR BRAZIL FPSO ANNA NERY PROJECT WITH “K” LINE PARTICIPATION

KUALA LUMPUR – 9 July 2020

Yinson Holdings Berhad (“Yinson” or the Group”) via its wholly owned subsidiary, Yinson Acacia Ltd has entered into an agreement with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“”K” Line”) to own around a 10% stake in a joint participation for the charter, operations and maintenance of FPSO Anna Nery, a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Marlim revitalisation project in Brazil.

Completion of the transaction is subject to final acceptance of the FPSO as well as the FPSO achieving stable operations which is expected to be met in 2023.

In line with the overall financing strategy for the project, the agreement makes “K” Line the second strategic partner following Sumitomo Corporation’s (“Sumitomo”) participation in the FPSO Anna Nery project with a 25% stake.

Commenting on the Group’s business strategy, Yinson’s Group Executive Chairman Lim Han Weng said, “The collaboration with “K” Line reaffirms the confidence that our partners have towards Yinson’s project execution and operational strength. Yinson and “K” Line have a strong relationship built on trust and cooperation seeing as they already hold an indirect equity stake in our FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor (“JAK”). Their investment into FPSO Anna Nery shows their continued confidence in our ability to deliver projects efficiently, and we are thankful and honoured for the opportunity to strengthen our existing partnership with yet another project”.

“K” Line is one of four partners, including Sumitomo that makes up the Japanese consortium who successfully acquired a 26% equity interest in FPSO JAK in June 2018, a transaction that velocitised the value of the project for Yinson.

Conversion works on FPSO Anna Nery are progressing well, with its first steel cut carried out in April 2020, and the commencement of structural hull work. The project team is also making good progress with demolition works.

The estimated aggregate value of the FPSO Anna Nery project is USD5.4 billion, with a contract period of 25 years from the date of the final acceptance, with no options for extension thereafter.

Revitalization project foresees a 60% reduction in carbon emissions in the Marlim and Voador fields, in the Campos Basin (RJ)

Petrobras expects to reduce by 60% the carbon emissions associated with the production of the Marlim and Voador fields, in the Campos Basin (RJ), as a result of the implementation of the project to revitalize this basin. The strategy consists of replacing the nine proprietary platforms that currently operate in these two assets with two new FPSOs (floating units that produce, store and transfer oil), equipped with technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The revitalization of the Campos Basin is part of the largest recovery project for mature assets in the global offshore industry. With this, Petrobras hopes to add more value to the Marlim and Voador fields, installing the FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery there, capable of producing, together, up to 150,000 barrels per day (bpd). The start of operation of the two platforms is scheduled for 2023.

To implement the new production projects, Petrobras will drill 14 new wells, relocating another 61 - and with the effort to revitalize the reservoirs, the forecast is to generate production gains for the field. Petrobras has incorporated low fugitive emission valves into the new platforms, technology to reduce vented gas from oil storage tanks, in addition to other solutions focused on reducing carbon emissions, further contributing to the environmental resilience of the oil fields. FPSO Anna Nery leaves the BrasFELS shipyard heading to the Marlim field
28.nov.2022

Petrobras informs that the platform vessel Anna Nery left the BrasFELS shipyard, in the city of Angra dos Reis (RJ), this Tuesday (11/22), bound for the Campos Basin. Of the FPSO type (floating unit that produces, stores and transfers oil), the new system will be installed in the Marlim field, in the Campos Basin (RJ), with production expected to start in the first quarter of 2023.

With the capacity to produce up to 70,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 4 million m3 of gas per day, the new FPSO will be strategic for the Campos Basin Renewal Plan, aimed at renewing mature operated assets by the company in the region. Petrobras is investing US$16 billion in this program, which is part of its Strategic Plan for the period from 2022 to 2026.

The new platform will be anchored in a water depth of 927 meters and connected to 32 wells, with peak production expected for 2025. The Marlim Revitalization Project plans to replace the nine platforms currently operating in the Marlim and Voador fields (P- 18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37 and P-47) by the new FPSOs Anna Nery and Anita Garibaldi – the latter being scheduled to start production also in 2023.

An international hub for offshore technology and the cradle of deepwater production in Brazil, the Campos Basin was a pioneer in innovation and will continue to be, both for decommissioning projects and for the revitalization of mature concessions.

The FPSO Anna Nery arrived at the BrasFELS shipyard in early October 2022 and underwent the final commissioning of the process plant, acceptance tests and regulatory inspections. Shortly after setting sail from the shipyard, the Anna Nery underwent tests required by the Brazilian Navy in the anchoring area and was connected to the ocean tugs that are leading to the final location in the Campos Basin.

Meet the new FPSO Anna Nery

Anna Nery is an FPSO — a floating unit that produces, stores and transfers oil — chartered from Yinson for the development of the southern area of Campo de Marlim.

Technical data of the unit:
  • Charter period: 25 years
  • Location: Marlim, within the concession areas in the Campos Basin
  • Oil treatment capacity: 70,000 BPD
  • Liquid Processing Capacity: 250,000 BPD
  • Gas compression capacity: 4,000,000 m³/d
  • Water injection capacity: 240,000 BPD
  • POB: 150 people
  • 19 producing wells
  • 4 production manifolds
  • 13 injector wells
  • 3 injection manifolds
Campos Basin Renewal Plan

An international hub for offshore technology and the cradle of deepwater production in Brazil, the Campos Basin was a pioneer in innovation and will continue to be, both for decommissioning projects and for the revitalization of mature concessions. Today it is the stage for the largest project to revitalize the world's offshore industry. We plan to install three new FPSO platforms (floating oil production, storage and transfer systems) in the region and connect more than 100 wells in the area over the next five years.

The forecast is to reach, in 2027, a volume of 900 thousand barrels of oil equivalent (boed) in the Campos Basin, with the entry into production of three new systems and investment in complementary projects on existing platforms. This volume represents about three times the production we would have achieved if we had not invested in new platforms and existing systems.

Strategic units for the Campos Basin Renewal Plan, the FPSOs Anita Garibaldi (AGA) and Anna Nery (ANE), which will be installed in the Marlim Field, represent modules 1 (AGA) and 2 (ANE) of the Revitalization Project of the Marlim and Voador fields and together will have the capacity to produce up to 150,000 barrels per day (bpd).

The Anita Garibaldi will produce oil from the post-salt reservoirs of Marlim and Voador and the pre-salt reservoir of Brava, will absorb the wells relocated from platforms undergoing decommissioning (P-18, P-19, P-20, P-33 and P-35). Anna Nery will absorb part of the production from the platforms that are currently being decommissioned in the Marlim field (P-18, P-26, P-35 and P-37). With both in operation, the productive life of these fields will be extended for another 25 years. The third planned unit is Maria Quitéria, in Jubarte, in the Parque das Baleias complex, in the Espírito Santo portion of the Campos Basin, with a capacity of 100,000 bpd.

According to its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan — which provides for an investment of US$ 18 billion in the Campos Basin — we have the ambition to add a volume of 20 billion/boe to its reserves, by 2030, 5 billion/boe of which will come from the assets operated by Petrobras in this basin.

Who was Anna Nery (1814-1880)?

Anna Nery was a pioneer in nursing in Brazil and became an example of altruism and perseverance in extremely adverse conditions.

Indicated in history as the Brazilian heroine, Anna Justina Ferreira Nery was responsible for providing voluntary services in the Paraguayan War (1864-1870), in military hospitals in Asunción, Corrientes and Humaitá. With a high humanitarian awareness, Anna Nery assisted people from different backgrounds, without distinction. Due to her always supportive posture, she became known at the time as the “mother of Brazilians”.

In 2009, the pioneer of nursing in Brazil was the first woman to enter the Book of Heroes and Heroines of the Fatherland.
