First oil from the pre-salt cluster

Santos basin is the largest offshore sedimentary basin in Brazil, ranging for a total area of over 350,000 square kilometers, all the way from Cabo Frio (state of Rio de Janeiro) to Florianopolis (state of Santa Catarina). The first investments in exploration and production studies for this basin date back to the 1970s.

Operations got underway in the Santos Basin pre-salt area on May 1, 2009, by means of an Extended Well Test (EWT) performed by FPSO BW Cidade de São Vicente in the Tupi area.

This date is considered a milestone not only for the company, but also for the Country as a whole.

A year later, on October 28, 2010, the Definitive Production System went on stream at the Tupi Field by means of FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22, which has been deployed at about 280 km from the coast and in waters with a depth of 2200 meters.

The FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22 is moored in 2,149m of water in the Lula (formerly Tupi) field, Santos Basin.

MODEC converted the VLCC "M/V Sunrise IV" into the FPSO. The FPSO is capable of processing up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 5 million m3 of gas. The facility is designed for H2S and CO2 removal and is capable of reinjecting CO2 downhole at 550 bar in addition to exporting sales gas to shore. The FPSO will initially gather production from five subsea wells and has the ability to accommodate four additional production wells in the future.

The contract is for a 15 year lease with 5 one-year options. The FPSO is designed to remain on the field for up to 20 years.

CB&I, prior to merger with McDermott secured the topsides engineering work for the FPSO in 2008.

Scope of Work
Conceptual Engineering and Detailed Engineering for the FPSO topsides

Summary
The clients, Petrobras and MODEC, were seeking a FPSO solution for the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil. McDermott was able to provide it to them with the 100,000 BPD and 177 MMSCFD facility. The topsides included a CO2 Treatment Module, a H2S Removal Module, and a 100 MW Power Generation Module. The combined topsides weight was approximately 21,000 tons.

MODEC lands Tupi Pilot FPSO for Petrobras
Tokyo, Aug. 26, 2008

MODEC announced today that Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) has signed a letter of intent for the supply, charter and operations of a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Pilot FPSO on the giant Tupi Area in the Santos Basin. The contract is for a 15 year lease with five one-year options.

MODEC is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, mobilization and operations for the FPSO, including topsides processing equipment, hull and marine system. SOFEC will design and provide the spread mooring.

MODEC will convert the VLCC "M/V Sunrise IV" into the FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22. The FPSO will be capable of processing 100,000 barrels of oil per day or 150,000 barrels of total fluids per day, 150 million cubic feet per day of gas, and having a storage capacity of approximately 1,600,000 barrels. The FPSO will also be able to inject 100,000 barrels of water per day. The FPSO is planned to arrive in Brazil in the 4th quarter, 2010 and will be installed in 2,150 meters water depth. The FPSO is designed to remain on the field for up to 20 years.

This is the sixth vessel MODEC will provide and operate in Brazil. It is the first permanent FPSO to operate in the Tupi area. MODEC is currently operating the FPSO Fluminense and FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV14 and the FSO Cidade de Macae MV15. The FPSO Cidade de Niteroi MV18 and FPSO Cidade de Santos MV20 are currently under construction and are scheduled to be installed in the fourth quarter of 2008 and 2009 respectively.

"This Pilot FPSO for the Tupi Area is of particular importance to us." says Kenji Yamada, President and CEO of MODEC, Inc. "We are proud of the confidence Petrobras obviously has in MODEC. We will deliver a quality FPSO on time and on budget."

The FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22 will be deployed in the Tupi area and will initially gather production from 5 subsea wells with the capability to handle 4 additional production wells in the future.

Rick Hall, President of MODEC International, Inc., added, "The Tupi Pilot FPSO award represents a significant milestone for MODEC in assisting Petrobras and its partners to start to develop the vast pre-salt reserves of the Santos Basin. Along with the FPSO Cidade de Santos MV20, this will be MODEC's second unit for the developing Santos Basin."

MODEC Announced Monumental Achievement for the FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22
Tokyo, Dec. 21, 2010

On September 22, 2010, the MODEC FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22 arrived at the Tupi field to begin offshore mooring and riser hookup. The arrival date was achieved approximately one month ahead of the contractual delivery date, with the first oil milestone impressively produced by the end of October. MODEC celebrated this monumental achievement from Brazil's first pre-salt commercial production facility with a visit from Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. This accomplishment, along with the continued operational success of MODEC's four existing FPSOs/FSOs leased to Petrobras, demonstrates the level of understanding, commitment, and attention to project execution that exemplifies the long-standing partnership between MODEC and Petrobras.

The Cidade de Angra dos Reis MV22 is moored in 2,149m of water in the Tupi field, Santos Basin. The vessel is capable of processing up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 5 million m3 of gas. The facility is designed for H2S and CO2 removal and is capable of reinjecting CO2 downhole at 550 bar in addition to exporting sales gas to shore. The FPSO will initially gather production from five subsea wells and has the ability to accommodate four additional production wells in the future.

Petrobras anticipates the need for additional FPSO systems to fully develop the region. MODEC looks forward to providing Petrobras with the same exemplary standard of project dedication and service, as demonstrated by this extraordinary P5 success rate, in future FPSO systems for the area.
