Subsea7 awarded contract offshore Trinidad and Tobago



Subsea7 announced today the award of a contract to Subsea Integration Alliance1 to support the development of bp’s Cypre project, a gas development located offshore Trinidad and Tobago. Subsea7’s scope of the awarded Subsea Integration Alliance contract is substantial2.

Subsea7’s scope covers the concept and design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a two-phase liquid natural gas tieback to the Juniper platform through dual flexible flowlines and a manifold gathering system, along with topside upgrades.

Design, engineering, and project management will commence immediately at Subsea7’s offices in the USA, with offshore installation planned for 2024.

Craig Broussard, Vice President for Subsea7 US, said: “We have been working closely with bp and our suppliers at the earliest possible stage to help develop and deliver an integrated SPS and SURF solution that optimises cost and efficiency, to accelerate first gas.”

SLB and Subsea Integration Alliance Awarded Contract for bp’s Cypre Project

HOUSTON, November 22, 2022—SLB announced today an award to its OneSubsea® business and Subsea Integration Alliance of a large contract by bp for its Cypre gas project offshore Trinidad and Tobago. The contract scope covers the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the subsea production systems and subsea pipelines. The award represents Subsea Integration Alliance’s first fully integrated EPCI single contract with bp and the alliance’s first development in the Caribbean nation.

The Subsea Integration Alliance team delivered the initial front-end engineering and design phase for the project and will now transition into the full EPCI phase. Offshore installation is scheduled to commence in 2024.

OneSubsea, the subsea technologies, production, and processing systems business of SLB, will deliver the subsea production systems, which will include seven horizontal subsea tree systems, subsea controls and connection systems, distribution and control systems and aftermarket services. Subsea7, also part of Subsea Integration Alliance, will deliver the subsea pipelines for the project.

bpTT announces start of production from new Cypre gas project

bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) today confirms its Cypre development has safely delivered its first gas. The Cypre gas field is located 78 kilometers off the southeast coast of Trinidad within the East Mayaro Block, in water depth of approximately 80 metres. Cypre is 100% owned by bp Trinidad and Tobago which is owned by bp (70%) and Repsol (30%).



Cypre is one of bp’s 10 major projects expected to start up worldwide between 2025 and 2027, announced as part of bp’s reset strategy to grow the upstream. Production from Cypre will make a significant contribution towards the 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) combined peak net production expected from these 10 projects.

Cypre is bpTT’s third subsea development. It will comprise seven wells tied back into bpTT’s existing Juniper platform. At peak, it is projected to deliver around 45,000 boed (approximately 250 million standard cubic feet of gas a day). The first phase of the development – four wells – was completed at the end of 2024. The second phase is expected to commence in the second half of this year.

“Our focus is on consistent execution and safe delivery of major projects like Cypre. The second of 10 major projects across our global portfolio that we expect to start up by 2027, Cypre is also the first of a series of projects we will be bringing online in Trinidad to deliver gas to the nation and add value for bp,” said William Lin, EVP gas and low carbon energy.

bpTT president David Campbell said: “Cypre is another key milestone in bpTT's strategy to maximize production from our shallow water acreage using existing infrastructure. Cypre is bp’s second major start-up of 2025, following the start of production from the second development phase of the Raven field, offshore Egypt.

The project meets bp's expected returns from upstream projects and is fully accommodated within bp’s capital expenditure plans.
