Celebrating 100 years of Cameron innovation

In 1920, Harry Cameron and James Abercrombie founded Cameron Iron Works. Two years later, they invented the world’s first blowout preventer (BOP)—an innovation that not only revolutionized oil and gas safety standards but also became the foundation of one of the industry’s most iconic companies and brands.

Jim Abercrombie and Henry Cameron designed the world's first BOP in 1922.

In 1945, Cameron pioneered the industry first 10000 psi production tree

Over the century, Cameron Iron Works was renamed Cameron International and went on to design, manufacture, and service the most comprehensive and reliable portfolio of pressure control equipment in the industry.

Today, as a Schlumberger company, Cameron remains committed to solving the industry’s most sophisticated problems and is helping forge a new era of environmental stewardship and safety in an ever-evolving industry.
