TechnipFMC Awarded Integrated EPCI (iEPCI™) Contract for the Energean Karish Field
March 26, 2018

LONDON & PARIS & HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 26, 2018-- TechnipFMC (Paris:FTI) (NYSE:FTI) has been awarded an iEPCI™ (integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) contract by Energean Oil & Gas for the Karish full field development, located offshore Israel at a water depth of 1,750 meters. This award extends our iEPCI™ offering from seabed to offshore producing facility.

The execution of this iEPCI™ contract covers the design, procurement, construction and installation of the complete subsea system, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading unit (FPSO) designed to allow the subsequent tie-back of the Tanin field, the pipeline system, and the onshore pipeline and valve station at the receiving station.

Hallvard Hasselknippe, President of TechnipFMC’s Subsea business, stated: “This award demonstrates our leadership position in iEPCI™. It also highlights our unique ability to combine a fully integrated field development encompassing both the entire subsea and FPSO scope. Our strong value proposition builds on early involvement and integrated solutions. By simplifying subsea field architecture, we help our clients significantly improve their project economics. We are honored that Energean Oil & Gas has embraced this new way of doing business, engaging with us early through an integrated FEED (iFEED™) study and directly awarding the full project scope through an integrated EPCI (iEPCI™) model.”

Energean Power FPSO for Karish and Tanin project sails away from construction yard in China

The hull of the Energean Power FPSO sailed away from the yard where it was built in China on Friday, April 3.

The floating production, storage and offloading vessel is for Energean’s project in the Karish and Tanin gas fields offshore Israel.

TechnipFMC worked with subcontractor SemCorp Marine (SCM) on the hull, and SCM subcontracted work to COSCO. It was launched last October, about 10 months after first steel was cut. Additional construction work was carried along the quayside at COSCO’s shipyard in Zhoushan, China.

Two tugs are towing the FPSO to Admiralty Yard in Singapore. It is due to arrive in mid-April, then the pre-built topsides will be lifted on to the hull. That will be followed by integration, commissioning and start-up in Singapore before the completed FPSO sets sail for Israel.

Willy Gauttier, Project Director, said, “This is a massive project with participation from TechnipFMC BU’s and Suppliers all over the world. There have been contributions from Norway, the U.K., France, Alabama in the U.S., China and Singapore. There’s been work onshore in Israel, too. We’re two years into this project and on target for Energean to produce first gas at Karish and Tannin in June 2021.”

Sembmarine wins contract to build FPSO for Energean-operated field
The vessel could be worth US$1.36b, according to previous calculations.

Sembcorp Marine’s subsidiary, Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters, won a contract from TechnipFMC to undertake the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of Hull and Living Quarters for a newbuild Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO). The company did not disclose the price of the deal.

Singapore Business Review previously reported that Energean Oil & Gas (Energean) has handed out a contract worth US$1.36b for the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for its proposed Karish gas field development off Israel to TechnipFMC. The news came on the back of Energean’s press release in relation to its US$1.275b bank facility agreement to finance the Karish project.

According to an announcement, the contract includes fabrication and integration of various topside modules, as well as the installation of owner-furnished equipment.

The FPSO’s hull is approximately 227m long and 50m wide, with a total oil storage capacity of 800,000bbls and gas production capacity of 8bcm (billion cubic metres) per annum.

The FPSO is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2020, and then it will be deployed at the Energean-operated Karish and Tanin deepwater field developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, approximately 90 km offshore Israel.
