Vesterled

Unread post by escveritas »

The Vesterled system runs from the Heimdal Riser platform in the North Sea to St Fergus in the UK, is 361 kilometres long overall and has a diameter of 32 inches.
A new pipeline which became operational on 1 October 2001 links Heimdal Riser with the Frigg Norwegian Pipeline (FNP).

With the formation of Vesterled, the FNP name ceased to apply. The Gassled joint venture absorbed the Vesterled system when it was established in 2003. Originally laid to carry gas from Frigg to the UK, the former FNP runs parallel to a British pipeline –the FUKA – which was completed in 1976.

The FNP was completed in 1977 and became operational in August 1978.

From: Heimdal Riser
To: St Fergus, UK
Length: 361 km
Diameter: 32 "
Available technical capacity (ATC)*: 39 MSm3/d
Operator: Gassco
Gassled: Area D

* ATC (Available Technical Capacity) is rounded to the nearest whole number [MSm³/d]. The actual transport capacity, available for potential users of these pipelines, could be influenced by pressure dependencies between different pipelines, temperature, gas quality, operational constraints etc.
