Europipe

Unread post by escveritas »

The Europipe I gas pipeline runs from the Draupner E riser platform in the North Sea to a receiving terminal at Dornum on the German coast. With an internal diameter of 40 inches, it is 620 kilometres long.
This pipeline’s final section was laid through a tunnel under the protected Wattenmeer coastal wetlands. A special machine was built to drive the concrete tunnel for a distance of 2 531 metres just beneath the seabed in the shore zone.

A parallel section of pipeline was laid through the tunnel during its construction in 1994, and this could later be used to bring the Europipe II line ashore. The terminal at Dornum is connected to the metering station at Emden by a 48-kilometre pipeline with a diameter of 42 inches. Europipe I became operational in 1995.

From: Draupner E
To: Dornum, Tyskland
Length: 620 km
Diameter: 40"
Available technical capacity (ATC)*: 46 MSm3/d
Technical Service Provider (TSP): Statoil
Operator: Gassco
Gassled: Area D

* ATC (Available Technical Capacity) is rounded to the nearest whole number [MSm³/d]. The actual transport capacity, available for potential users of these pipelines, could be influenced by pressure dependencies between different pipelines, temperature, gas quality, operational constraints etc.
