From a Shuttle Tanker to an FSO

We are pleased to announce that we have taken delivery of the Randgrid FSO, which is currently in transit from the shipyard in Singapore to Statoil’s Gina Krog oil and gas field in the North Sea. The unit has been undergoing a conversion using one of Teekay’s existing shuttle tankers, the Randgrid, at the Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore. Randgrid FSO will operate at the Gina Krog oil and gas field in the North Sea, which started production on June 30, 2017 and is amongst Statoil’s major new developments.

The unit is designed to operate for a minimum of 15 years of uninterrupted operations, without the need to leave the field for drydocking. Millions of hours of hard work and even more passion and dedication have been put into this conversion project and, what’s most important, it was done so without any injuries to personnel. We would like to congratulate the team for reaching this important milestone and wish them a safe and smooth sailing to the North Sea, at which point the unit will undergo field installation and testing before it commences its charter contract with Statoil!

RANDGRID FSO COMMENCES ITS CHARTER CONTRACT ON THE GINA KROG FIELD WITH STATOIL

After successful field installation and testing, the Randgrid FSO unit officially starts up operations and commences its charter contract with Statoil on the Gina Krog oil and gas field in the North Sea. “Today marks a significant milestone in Teekay Offshore’s FSO franchise with the start-up of our largest FSO project to-date,” commented Ingvild Sæther, President and CEO of Teekay Offshore Group Ltd. “The Randgrid FSO further builds on our strategic partnership with Statoil and is expected to contribute annual cash flow from vessel operations(1) of approximately $60 million during the firm period of the charter contract.”

The vessel is now operating at the Statoil field under a firm charter period of three years, plus extension options, and has the ability to operate for a maximum of 15 years of uninterrupted operations, without the need to leave the field for drydocking. The unit was converted from one of Teekay’s existing shuttle tankers at the Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore.
