Keppel secures contracts worth S$146 million

Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) has secured two contracts worth a total of S$146 million to convert a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit as well as to fabricate and integrate an external turret mooring system for an existing FPSO unit.

The first contract is from Single Buoy Moorings Inc (SBM) for the conversion of the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) M/T Concorde Spirit into a FPSO facility, to be named FPSO OSX-2. SBM had been engaged by OSX Brasil S.A. (OSX) to supply the FPSO, which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2013 and will be deployed in the OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes S.A. (OGX) field in Campos Basin, offshore Brazil.

Keppel Shipyard's work scope on FPSO OSX-2 comprises refurbishment and life extension works, accommodation block extensions for 80 personnel, a new flare tower, a new internal turret mooring system and topside module supports, as well as the installation and integration of topside modules. Work on the vessel is expected to commence in September 2011.

Mr Tony Mace, Chief Executive Officer of SBM Offshore said "Since 2001, Keppel has been our preferred partner and we are pleased to award another FPSO conversion to them. I look forward to continue with this partnership as we build up our FPSO fleet."

Mr Nelson Yeo, Managing Director of Keppel Shipyard, said, "We are glad for another opportunity to collaborate with our long-time customer SBM and to support OSX. Committed to safe and value-added services, we will work closely with all stakeholders of FPSO OSX-2 towards a successful conversion project."

Other ongoing projects between Keppel Shipyard and SBM include the fast-track modification and upgrading of the FPSO Cidade de Anchieta and the conversion of the FPSO Cidade de Paraty, which will subsequently proceed to Keppel FELS Brasil's BrasFELS for installation and integration of topsides. Keppel Shipyard is also undertaking modification and upgrading work on OSX's first vessel, FPSO OSX-1.

Keppel Shipyard's second contract is for the fast-track fabrication and integration of an external turret mooring system for Rubicon Offshore International Pte Ltd (Rubicon Offshore).

FPSO Rubicon Intrepid is currently engaged in the production of Galoc Field, west of Palawan Island, the Philippines. Fabrication of the turret is expected to be completed and integrated to the FPSO in the fourth quarter of this year.

The above contracts are not expected to have any material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the current financial year.

Petrobras Begins Production on FPSO Cidade de Anchieta Offshore Brazil

September 12, 2012

On September 10, at around 6 pm, Petrobras’ FPSO Cidade de Anchieta began producing oil from well 7-BAZ-02-ESS. This floating production, storage and offloading platform is located in the Baleia Azul field, in the area known as Parque das Baleias in the Campos Basin off the coast of Espírito Santo.

The Cidade de Anchieta is a dedicated pre-salt production platform for the Baleia Azul, Jubarte and Pirambu fields, for which Petrobras holds 100% of the concession.

FPSO Cidade de Anchieta will produce oil of high commercial value (28º API). It is chartered to SBM Services Inc. and is capable of processing 100,000 barrels of oil and 3.5 million m3 of gas per day. The platform is operating in a water column of 1,221 meters, 80 km off the coast. The natural gas it produces will be output through the Capixaba North-South pipeline to the Natural Gas Treatment Facility in Cacimbas, on the coast of Espírito Santo.

Initial production from the existing well is estimated at 20,000 barrels per day. A further 9 wells (6 production and 3 water injection) are to be connected to the platform. Peak production of 100,000 barrels per day by is expected by February 2013.

FPSO Cidade de Anchieta was converted at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore and is part of the Parque das Baleias pre-salt development project.

The FPSO Cidade de Anchieta platform vessel (chartered to Petrobras, operated by the company SBM) is anchored in the Baleia Azul field, located about 80 kilometers off the coast of Espírito Santo, on the coast of the municipality of Anchieta (ES), and operates exclusively in pre-salt wells.

The maximum operating capacity installed on the FPSO Cidade de Anchieta is 100,000 bpd and 3.5 million m3 of gas. Its production takes place at a water depth of approximately 1270 meters and began in 2012. In addition to the Baleia Azul field, FPSO Cidade de Anchieta also produces oil and gas in the Jubarte and Pirambu fields, also located approximately 80 kilometers from the coast.

FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel-platforms are floating units for the production, storage and transfer of oil and natural gas. The oil production that is gradually stored in the tanks is drained to the refineries by means of shuttle tankers, which are nothing more than oil tankers that periodically connect to the FPSO to receive the oil and, thus, empty the oil tanks.

The gas production from the FPSOs, on the other hand, is transported by submarine gas pipelines to units on land, responsible for receiving, processing and transporting the gas and derivatives. In the case of FPSO Cidade de Anchieta, the gas is drained to the Cacimbas Gas Treatment Unit (UTGC), in Linhares (ES), through the 201-kilometer South-North Capixaba gas pipeline.
