FSO Caspian Sea

Unread post by escveritas »

Jurong Shipyard saw the on-schedule sailaway of Caspian Sea, a 104,356 dwt Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) vessel measuring 243m x 45.80m x 20.10m, on June 24, 2009 following the vessel’s successful life extension and upgrading for Tanker Pacific Offshore Terminals.

FSO Caspian Sea arrived in Jurong Shipyard in early April 2009 to undergo longevity repairs involving steel renewal as well as blasting and coating of hull structures and ballast tanks. Upgrading works were also performed on the vessel comprising installation of boat landings and new life boats and upgrading of produced water system. The vessel’s accommodation was upgraded to increase the crew capacity and enhance the facilities.

Despite the tight and challenging schedule, the project was completed with zero-incidents and on time due to the excellent co-operation and teamwork between Jurong Shipyard and Tanker Pacific.

Prior to FSO Caspian Sea’s departure, a sailaway celebration, attended by key representatives from Tanker Pacific, Murphy Oil Sarawak, Petronas and Jurong Shipyard, was held on June 18 to mark the successful FSO vessel upgrading.

FSO Caspian Sea, which has a storage capacity of approximately 700,000 barrels of oil and an export rate of 15,000 barrels per hour, subsequently resumed her operations offshore Sarawak after setting sail from the yard.

Caspian Sea FSO vessel replaced by the Crescent Moon

Thursday, July 1 2021

Thai state-owned upstream player PTTEP is swapping out the Caspian Sea FSO vessel at its producing West Patricia oilfield offshore Malaysia for a couple of months this summer.

The FSO will be replaced by the Crescent Moon, which will act as an FSO, from 12 July to 18 September at the field on Block SK 309 in Malaysia’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

UK contractor Zodiac Maritime’s 150,581-deadweight tonne Liberia-flagged suezmax tanker Crescent Moon (formerly the Archway) is already in Bintulu, Sarawak for deployment at West Patricia.

The field is located 40 kilometres offshore Bintulu in a water depth of 40 metres.

Omni Offshore Terminals’ Malaysia-flagged Caspian Sea since 2003 has been operating at the West Patricia field on Block SK 309 offshore Sarawak, East Malaysia.

The 1979-built Caspian Sea has been supporting West Patricia production for 18 years, following its delivery from Singapore’s Jurong Shipyard where it underwent life extension and upgrading repairs.
